Named after a galaxy in the Virgo cluster, we are an art duo, videoartist Besire Paralik & painter Sinem Vardar,
collaborating with sound artists.
Our live performances combine painting, video art, and music to create a unique and moving atmosphere consisting moments of
joy, serenity, and brutality.

Our performance explores the symbolic and
emotional power of the hand as an ancient gesture of compassion, healing, and presence. Referencing prehistoric cave handprints (such as Cueva de las Manos), Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam, and the protective symbol of Fatima’s Hand, the work creates a ritual space where timeless expressions of care meet today’s longing for connection and tenderness.

Raw, massive, and yet fragile.
Made of fine sand, cement, and water – still ominous, cold, and overwhelming.
In our live performance, we explore the tensions of concrete: between resistance and decay, between flowing movement and massive form, between rough surface and fine sand within.

WHY "SOMBRERO M104"
Sombrero M104 is a galaxy in the Virgo cluster with a supermassive black hole in its core. It is one of the most massive found in nearby galaxies. We chose the name Sombrero M104, because

the core of the galaxy shapes and resonates with the galaxy’s light and dust, much like how our creative forces—image, sound, color—interact to birth something new

the birth of galaxies and the making of art share a mystery

galaxies form through collapse and expansion, where gravity and black holes shape light and matter. In a similar way, our painting, video art, and music collide and resonate until something new appears

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE PERFORMANCE
Duration: 60-75 minutes

Topic: Depends on the event
Sinem Vardar paints on a large canvas stretched across the floor using plants, shells, ink, water, and materials chosen specifically according to the theme of the performance. The painting process is intuitive and highly dynamic, the painting is during the performance in a constant evolution and flux.
Besire Paralik creates a video installations -using specific effects and visuals related to the theme of the performance. The video is projected onto a large white surface during the performance. Additionally, Besire films the live painting process and transforms the close-up recordings into artistic video projections, which are also shown during the performance in large format on another surface.
Currently, we collaborate alternately with sound artists Tarxun, Genesis Victoria, Inal Bilsel.
