SİNEM VARDAR

​My works are raw, archaic, and symbolic. They dissolve boundaries: time, space, and characters exist in a fluid state, reflecting my animistic approach. Through writing and painting, I grapple with the essence of life in its various forms, sprouting, burning, fluid, and gentle. Each poem, each story, and each painting is a living event. Formed yet fluid, condensed yet in constant becoming. My practice in Japanese martial arts complements and deepens my visual and literary work.

I paint with my hands and with seashells in an impulsive, instinctive, and unmediated way, as I write with pen on paper.

​I am a writer, poet, and painter. Born and grew up in Izmir, I have lived in Cairo, London, Brussels and am currently based in Berlin.
